The Political Mask of Social Liberalism

I was never one for conspiracy theories. They simply didn’t have an intrigue, to me. I mean, come on. The Beatles were not hired by the British Psychological Warfare Division to undermine the morals of American teenagers. 9/11 as an inside job? Give me a break. And I’m sorry, you sci-fi fans, there is no plausible explanation for how George Bush could’ve been an alien-lizard mutant. Sandy was a governmental attempt to delay the jobs report? How does the Department of Labor engineer a hurricane, that’s my question!
It’s not surprising, then, that I squirm every time I hear about how democrats want to turn America into a socialist nation, and that Obamacare is a ploy to kill all the old people in the Western Hemisphere. It’s also no surprise that I start to laugh when Republicans are accused of wanting to turn 21st century free market economy into Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, returning to the diabolical crony capitalism of industrialism gone awry. Lets be real. Politics is little more than a contest in mud-throwing.
My problem doesn’t lie with the republicans. It doesn’t lie with the democrats, either. I don’t think either of them have some grand scheme to lay waste to American society. There are good people, and there are bad people – and whatever political label you choose to give them, politics will run its course.
My beef is with social liberalism. Clarification: being a liberal does not entail being a democrat (bear with me, you conservatives – hey, stop it! Put down the mud!). This blog doesn’t exist to tackle left-wing political theory. It exists to confront the blatant, unashamed, and dangerous hypocrisy of social liberals.
It’s important to define what being a liberal entails, for the purpose of this blog. We’re talking about those who are openly attempting to transform America’s social structure from the inside out – they are progressives with a specific agenda. They have a social rather than political end in mind, though they use political means to achieve that end. Feminism. Tolerance. Social justice. Free expression. Sexual liberation. Relativism. These are the doctrines of a liberal. They are not confined to the political sphere – they manifest themselves in philosophy, in career opportunities, in our relationships, etc. This is not a conspiracy. This is reality – one admitted by liberals themselves.
Since liberalism operates on a social platform, it necessitates political hypocrisy. I think social liberalism uses politics as a mask. And I think I can prove it.
Since liberalism is trying to secure an end goal, a certain orthodoxy, they have to make political contradictions in order to achieve certain social ends. There is no such thing as a consistent liberal, because liberalism isn’t a political philosophy: it’s a radical social agenda.
These inconsistencies have been ignored for too long. Liberals have gotten away with social engineering because they have framed their reforms in terms that are easily relatable, terms that are easy to understand. That is what this blog is here to address. Unless we realize their inconsistencies, liberals will impose their own, dangerous orthodoxy on America.
